ToggleDefinition of Flat Belt
A flat belt is a belt with a smooth surface, usually evenly textured on both sides. It is made of rubber, fabric or synthetic composites and is mainly used for transferring power or transporting materials between two parallel axes.
Types of Flat Belt
Flat Belt for Power Transmission
Used for power transmission and suitable for various industrial machinery such as textile machines, lathes and agricultural machines.
- Nylon Flat Belt
The polyamide sheet is used as the bearing layer, the working surface is covered with a friction layer of leather or nitrile, and the non-working surface is adhered to a rubber cloth or special fabric layer. The tensile strength of nylon sheet is 400MPa, and it has high elastic modulus. The covering layer of the working surface can not only enhance the lateral tear resistance of the belt, but also increase the adhesion to the belt pulley. According to the different covering materials, the friction coefficient with the pulley surface can reach 0.4~0.7, so the nylon flat belt has a high load capacity. - Seamless Silicone Belt
Seamless silicone belt is made from truly-endless PBO fabric conveyor belt coated with no-seamed silicone surface. It is now widely used for bonding machine to replace seamless PTFE belt. - Seamless Gum Rubber Belt
Seamless gum rubber belt is extensively used in high-performance feeders (e.g. Bobst, Jagenberg, Tanabe) for paper, cardboard and plastic. In addition to these folding / gluing machines, many letter sorting machines (e.g. NEC, Siemens, Wincor) use our vacuum feeding belts.
Flat Belt for Transporting Material
Used for conveying materials, widely used in food processing, logistics warehousing, mining and other fields. It has good wear and tear resistance and some of it meet the standards of food grade.
- PU Flat Belt
PU flat belt is made of thermoplastic polyurethane and fabric, has features of durable, chemical and oil resistant, while complying with FDA standards, widely used in manufacturing, food processing, packaging, automotive and other industries. - PVC Flat Belt
PVC flat belt is made of polyvinyl chloride and fabric, featured with low cost and low weight. It is extensively used for material handling, printing and packing industry. - Kevlar Flat Belt
Kevlar flat belt is solid wove by Kevlar, stainless steel and other fabric fiber, it is high temperature resistant, so it is ideal for conveying tableware, stemware and glass products during production. - Sponge Flat Belt
Sponge flat belt is made of sponge rubber with PVC or PU fabric. It has characteristics of soft surface and good absorbency. It is frequently used for handling fragile items, cosmetics bottles and labeling system. - Cotton Flat Belt
Cotton flat belt is a kind of braided conveyor belt by cotton fiber. It is durable and heat resistant, preferred by biscuit and bread baking industry. - Silicone Flat Belt
Silicone flat belt is made of silica gel and fabric. It is also food grade and it has features of non-sticky. It is widely used in hygiene industry, like diaper and napkin production. Also it is used in food industry, like dough molding, pasta production and etc.
Advantages & Disadvantages of Flat Belt
Advantages
- High transmission efficiency (up to 98%).
- Low noise, suitable for quiet working environment.
- High flexibility to adapt to different pulley distances and angles.
- A variety of materials to meet the needs of special industries (such as food, chemical).
Disadvantages
- Easy to Slip: Especially in heavy load or wet environment.
- Faster Wear: In high load condition, the belt life service may be shortened.
- High Alignment Requirement: If the pulley is not aligned, it will cause the belt to run off or excessive wear.
Applications of Flat belt
- Belt Conveyor System: It is used for transporting materials in food processing and logistics warehousing.
- Textile Machinery: Used for power transmission for machine, such as spinning and weaving machines, calenders, and finishing machinery.
- Woodworking Machinery: In woodworking machinery, flat belts are employed to transmit power from the motor to the cutting blades and other essential components.
- Printing Equipment: To achieve efficient transmission of paper or other materials.
- Agricultural Equipment: Power transmission of threshers and pumps.
Conclusion
Flat belt is widely used in conveyor system. As flat belt supplier, Puteken is your reliable and trustworthy choice.
